The point of your profile page is to communicate honestly about who you are in the briefest way possible. Furthermore, believe it or not, you want to attract people by your profile not make them go screaming in the opposite direction. So what can you do to your profile to get noticed?
Write something intelligent in the “About Me” section!
This requires a bit of thinking and perhaps someone to proofread it for you. Do you have writer’s block? Its okay, most people find it difficult to write about themselves.
Here are some helpful Do’s and Don’ts:
- Don’t talk about why you joined the site, it is assumed that you joined because your looking for a “co-pilot in life” or atleast someone to date.
- Don’t be self-deprecating or say anything negative about yourself or life in general – no one wants to be around a .
- Don’t say things that are obvious. Everyone is looking for a funny, sweet and good hearted person. Think about what you can bring to the table in personality; as well, think about key characteristics that you are looking for in someone else.
- Do talk about yourself in terms of what you like to do for fun when your not working, unless your work is fun and can make you stand out.
- Do talk about things that are important to you. If you’re passionate about soccer, it’s best to mention it right off the bat so that when your first date is a soccer game, there are no surprises.
- Do tell the truth! If you’re not 6 feet tall, than don’t say you are.
