Online Dating: Your Profile Picture

The beauty of Two Mangoes is the ability to connect directly to your profile pictures which in most cases are decent and up to date. Why then do most people choose not to show a picture on dating sites or in some cases show a very blurry or bad quality one?

My only reasoning is the fact that is more or less your friends, family and far off acquaintances. You don’t usually have people on there that you don’t know or will openly judge you on your attractiveness.

Having your picture up for the dating community to see can be nerve racking yet a very crucial part of the whole online dating mix. It is recommended that you have atleast one picture up that follows these tips:

  1. Ensure the photo is clear, focused and has proper lighting. If your picture is unfocused and dark then you are probably better off not having a picture.
  2. Your picture should be only of you, (by yourself) ideally where you’re making eye contact with the camera and looking happy.
  3. Get someone to take the picture for you; there is nothing worse than seeing a self taken photo with a dirty bathroom towel in the background.
  4. Be yourself in the picture as in your expression and the type of clothes you wear. Don’t show yourself wearing a suit if that’s not something you wear every day. Alternatively for girls, don’t wear too much makeup or show a styled up photo if it’s not a true reflection of your everyday self.
  5. Lastly, for god sake’s don’t hold a baby!

Best of luck on building your Two Mangoes profile! Let the search begin!

Good post! I’ve noticed that many guys have the ‘no-shirt’ pic as part of their collection of porfile pics. Why!?!? If they think it’s going to get them dates, think again!

    Thanks for your comment AY.

I definitely agree wtih you – not sure why guys feel the need to go shirtless on dating profile pics. Even if the dude is rocking a 6 pack, there is really no need for it. It gives off the wrong impression – its tasteless and tacky.

    Thanks again,
